I just did this tensioner/belt job on my 02 this weekend - also changed the water pump & leaking old-style water pump cover. You may have to move the dipstick bracket and the AIR valve bracket an inch or two out of the way, to be able to get the 2 long shoulder retainer bolts out far enough to pull the tensioner free.
